George was born in Katowice, Poland to Tomocj and Sophia Bara Brongel. He came to the United States around 1894 and married Maria Ann Konieczny on Feb. 1, 1897, in St. Valentine's Church in Peru, Ill. George and Mary lived at 1206 Lincoln in Peru, Ill. They raised five sons and four daughters. George worked at the Illinois Zinc Company in Peru. He passed away at age 72 in his home after an extended illness.
