Kate L. Cathey, 95, of Mountain City, GA, died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Mountain Lakes Medical Center after an extended illness. Kate, as she was known by her friends and family, was the youngest daughter of Arthur and Thera Love of Mountain City. She was the last member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Cathey and a grandson, Kevin E. Cathey.
Survivors are son, John and his wife Bernice of Greenwood, SC, son, Frank and wife Brenda of Mountain City, son, Dennis and wife Vicki of Demorest, GA, daughter, Karan Cathey of Mountain City, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. "Miss Kate" owned and operated the Villager Restaurant for many years prior to her retirement.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, GA, beginning at noon on Saturday, December 31, 2011. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Rabun Memorial Park following the services.
