Mass murderer. Stuart, along with James Finch were responsible for the Whisky Au Go Go Nightclub fire in Brisbane on March 8th 1973 that killed 15 people. Stuart and Finch were attempting to use standover methods to get Brisbane's nightclubs to pay protection money. They used 2 drums of diesel to start the fire and blocked exits to prevent patrons escaping the fire. They were soon caught and were both sentenced to life imprisonment. Both Stuart and Finch maintained their innocence of the crime and staged many protests whilst in prison. Stuart died of idiopathic myocarditis while serving his term of imprisonment
