World War II Russian Major General. Born in the village of Khotino, Russia, he was elected secretary of the Komsomol committee of Khotino village, in 1922 and graduated from military courses in Moscow, in 1925. He graduated the Cavalry Commander’s School, in 1929, was a Politruk in the 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, (1935-36) and Commissar of the independent reconnaissance Battalion of 93rd infantry division. During World War II, for bravery in the defensive battles at the Solovyov Crossing, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner in 1941, was promoted General and led several Cossack Calvary Regiments which broke through the German defenses on Western Front. Promoted Major General, he was Deputy Commander of the 16th Army and commander of the 2nd Guards Cavalry Corps, to defend the approaches to Moscow in the Volokalamsk sector. On December 21, 1941, while in the front lines scouting for an attack on German positions near the village of Palashkino, Ruza Raion of Moscow Oblast, Major General Dovator was mortally wounded by machine gun fire.
