Bertha Frieda (Summerall) Caldwell
Jan. 17, 1944 - Oct. 14, 2010

Bertha F. Caldwell, Age 66, of Hernando, Florida, formerly of West Virginia, died Oct. 14, 2010. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Palms-Robarts Memorial Park. Palms-Robarts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bertha came into this world, a premature baby, weighing only 4 lbs & 5 ounces. Our mom told me that Bertha lost down to 2 lbs and she almost died. I believe my sister was touched by God, because she lived to become the kindest, most loving person, I ever knew.

Bertha was named after her great-grandmother Bertha Roeske who came from Germany and her grandmother, Frieda Ida (Roeske) Rowan.

Bertha was born in Bloomington, Illinois. This was her mother's home state. Her father grew up in South Florida. Bertha's parents John Wesley Summerall and Mildred Bernice (Rowan) Summerall moved to Fort Myers, Florida when Bertha was 2 years old and that is where Bertha grew up. She graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1962. Her graduation Photo is pictured on the left, in the middle. The bottom photo shows Bertha at 3 years old on the left with her sister Juanita, age 2, seated at the right.

Bertha was married for 37 Years to Kenon Caldwell. They had no children.

Bertha was a kind and gentle person who was always wanting to do something for someone else. A more thoughtful person never lived. Everyone who knew her loved her. Her gift was truly that of a servant to others. She was a spirit filled Christian and loved the Lord until the day she died. She always attended Church regularly.

Bertha's funeral was well attended by family and friends. She was an Angel on this earth, while she was here. You could always see the love in Bertha's face, and feel the love in her touch. She is greatly missed by all who loved her.

Survivors include her brother, Robert Summerall of Sarasota; and sisters Juanita Clark of Crystal River, Gloria Conery of Hendersonville, N.C., and Barbara Johnston of Sarasota, Florida.

PRAYER: from sister, Juanita
God if you just let me look into Heaven for a moment,
To catch a glimpse of Bertha's smiling face,
I promise I won't try to take her,
I know she's in a better place.

I come to this page everyday to look at the face of my precious sister & best friend. I don't always leave a flower, but somehow I feel like she knows I'm here. I Love you sister!!!!

TO MY DEAREST FAMILY, some things I'd like to say....but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived ok. I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and HE said, "I Welcome you".

********************************************************

We little knew that morning, that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning'hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

********************************************************** A MESSAGE FROM HEAVEN
Perhaps you aren't ready yet, to have to say good bye.....
Perhaps you've thought of things, you wished you'd said;
Well, so have I.....For one thing, I'd have told you, not to worry about me.....I'm with the Lord in Heaven now; you know that's where I'd be. I'm sorry that your're feeling sad, For I'm so happy now....I asked the Lord to ease the hurt and comfort you somehow. It's hard at the beginning, but I know you'll make it through, I hope it helps to know; that I'll be waiting here for you. Love Bertha

WITH YOU DANCING ON A STAR
I wish there was a path that led to where you are, I wish that I could be with you dancing on a star. I wish there was a bridge, That would allow me to cross , To have one more day to see you. I think it would lessen my loss.
I wish there was a light that would show me the way, I want so much to see you, I have so much to say.
Though not the way I want or the way I think it should be, But there are so many ways, that show that you are near me. I hear your whisper in the wind, I feel your touch in the breeze, I see your love light in the stars, All these put my soul at ease. ~~~ Tonya Lord~~~~
