Lindsay - MACIE EVELYN BARKER, 82, of Lindsay, departed this life Thursday, November 30, 2006, in Lindsay.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Old Velma Cemetery with Beverly Barker officiating. Burial is under direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay.
Macie was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Clemscott, to Perry and Myrtle Barker.
She attended school in Velma where she was a varsity basketball player for four years, and the valedictorian of her graduating class.
After her high school graduation, Macie was employed with the Woolworth Department Store in Duncan, where she worked during the day. She was a student at the Duncan Junior College at night and majored in busienss. She was then employed by Halliburton.
She was of the Southern Baptist faith and became a member of the Velma First Baptist Church in her youth.
Following an extended illness, Macie lived the past nine years in the Lindsay Manor Nursing Home, where she was greatly blessed with many friends.
She enjoyed the Sunday school and worship services each Sunday, along with the singing throughout the week. Her hobbies were walking and playing bingo.
Survivors include a brother, Lenioel Sim Barker Sr. and wife Wanda; two nephews, Lenioel Sim Barker Jr. and wife Paula, Bob Barker and wife Nancy; four nieces, Eileen Simonton and husband Danny, Beverly Barker, Norma Jean Hopkins and husband Billy, and Lawana Axtell and husband Jason.
Macie was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Myrtle Barker, and a sister, Sylvia Natalie Parker.
