Rosemary Fetherston

..Rosemary Fetherston, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2013. She was 96 and had lived in Modesto, California for more than 85 years.
..Rosemary was born July 25, 1916 in Fruita, Colorado. She moved to Modesto, California at the age of 10, graduated from Modesto High School in 1934 and Modesto Junior College in 1936. Rosemary married Sherman Fetherston on December 31, 1938. They were married 40 years until Sherman passed away in 1978, at the age of 66.
..Rosemary worked as an administrative assistant for the Turlock Elementary School District for five years. The State of California Employment Development Department then employed her from 1958 to 1979. Upon her retirement, Rosemary enjoyed an active life with friends and family, playing bridge, and traveling around the world with Elder Hostel. She also volunteered at the Modesto Community Hospice for twenty years. Rosemary was a long-time member of the Methodist Church of Turlock and the First United Methodist Church of Modesto.
..Rosemary is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas and Sally Fetherston of Scottsdale, Arizona; and James and Barbara Fetherston of Rutherford, California; four grandchildren, Jay Fetherston, Scott Fetherston, Laura Fetherston, and Erin Fetherston; and three great grandchildren, Anna, Cole, and Stella Fetherston. Known for the deep faith, kindness, and generosity of spirit she shared with all who knew her, Rosemary will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
..Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents: Hyrum and Anna Groves Standifird, her husband, Sherman Fetherston, a brother, James Hyrum Standifird, and a sister, Wiletta Vaughn.
..Arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin & Downs McHenry Chapel. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Modesto at 1:00 p.m. on March 15, 2013. The Reverend Debra Brady will be officiating. A small, private burial service at Lakewood Cemetery will precede the memorial service.
