Marcelus "Mart" was the first born of the two sons of James Timothy DePreste and Della Cora Hays. He was married on December 25th, 1928 in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri to Alice Leota Phipps. Mart and Alice had two daughters; Marjory "Margie" Lee and Patty Jo DePreste.
In 1978, my husband, myself and our children, and my parents enjoyed a wonderful visit on a hot afternoon with Uncle Mart in Joplin. He had a unique perspective and sense of humor and it is a treasured memory.
