Gerald Ray Belyeu, age 67, of Checotah, OK, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Gerald was born February 11, 1943, in El Reno, OK, to Ray Inzer and Alice Eloise (Dunn) Belyeu. He grew up in Yukon, OK, graduating Salutatorian from Yukon High School in 1961. His passion for music was evident in always earning superior ratings as a member of the Mixed Chorus Group, Ensemble Group, Boys Glee Club, All State Vocal and Band, and Tri State Vocal and Band. Gerald loved singing and playing the trumpet, piano, and organ for church and community events including the Miss Yukon Oklahoma Pageant. He was a member of the Thespian Theater, President of Future Farmers of America, Captain of his High School Football Team and was presented the Boy Student of the Year Award his junior year by Lt. Gov. George Nigh. Gerald was also a faithful member of Lighthouse Christian Center for over 29 years where he served in the choir, played his trumpet, and helped with missions. Gerald attended Central State College in Edmond, OK, graduating in 1967 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry. He worked as a toxicologist for the Medical Arts Laboratory in OKC until 1974, then moved to Checotah and became an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agent and forensic chemist in McAlester, OK. Gerald retired in 1995 but continued cattle ranching with his high school sweetheart of 48 years, Marilyn. Gerald was preceded in death by his grandparents, Steve Dunn of El Paso, TX, Flora Hise of Yukon, and Rufus and Monte Belyeu of Shawnee; and his father, Raymond Inzer Belyeu of Checotah.
