Pat studied international law at Reed College and received a master's degree from the University of Oregon, returning to New York in 1932.
Over the years he ran a sucessful auction business 1940-1973, operated two private mail delivery services from his homes(first in Shrub Oak, NY and later in Boca Raton, FL). He wrote the philatelic classics "Nassau Stree:A Quarter Century of Stamp dealing", "Fun and Profit in Stamp Collecting" and "Stories To Collect stamps By".
He lived his last years in Boca Raton, FL where his beloved wife, Ida, cared for him during a prolonged battle against Parkinson's disease.
