Gentle and loving, Sadie enjoyed hiking and climbed many mountains when we lived in Vermont. Riding in the car was a special thrill of which she never tired. She was a companion like no other with a personality that in no way reflected her early years as a "puppy mill mom". Confiscated by the authories,"somewhere down south", she made her way to New York State where we adopted her through the Labrador Retrieveal Rescue. She was estimated to be 4 years old at the time. The next 7 years were canine joy for us and when we moved to Rhode Island Sadie adjusted wonderfully.

It was a warm Spring day when we went for a walk. While down by the river she went into respiratory distress. I carried her home and placed her down on her bed in the living room. I lay down beside her and 10 minutes later she was gone.
As the years pass, other dogs have come and gone but no one was like Sadie.
