Davie Cooper was one of the greatest and best loved football players in scotland,playing most of his career for Glasgow Rangerswhom he joined in 1977 from Clydebank.he had 22 caps playing for Scotland although he only scored 6 goals for his country when he was on the ball everyone knew there was magic about to happen.davie's last game for rangers was against Celtic (their greatest enemy on 20th may 1989 & from there he moved to motherwell where he played until his sudden death of a brain haemorhage during the filming of a football training programme for scottish television.
The outpouring of grief and tributes from all quaters of the game were indicitive of the high regards in which he was held.many annointed him as one of the greatest players of all time and some even compared his skills to the brazilians.
in 2001 davie was elected into the rangers hall of fame & his goal against celtic in the dryborough cup in 1979 was voted the greatest ever rangers goal.
