Hambrick spent 18 months at Channel 9 in 1966-67, before Scripps sent him to Clevelandfs WEWS-TV. He was hired here as a reporter in July 1966, and co-anchored Channel 9Œs first 6 p.m. newscast with Al Schottelkotte in 1967, according to Allan White, retired Channel 9 assistant news director.

When he covered Cincinnati riots for Channel 9, ghe and his cameraman were badly beaten by an angry mob, which also smashed their gear and news car,h said long-time friend Lee Bailey.
