Fannie Howard, 89,
Pharmacist, Dies
Miss Fannie A. Howard, 89, of
2245 S Broadway, one of the first
pharmacists in the state, died
Friday at a local rest home after
short illness. She had been a
Wichita resident since 1892.
She was born June 19, 1871, at
Pierpont, Ohio.
She was proprietor of Ideal Pharmacy
from 1898 to 1903. She was later
a bookeeper at Tanner's Book Store
for 10 years.
She was a charter member of
the Business and Professional
Women's Club, and a charter
member of the local Unitarian
Church. She was also a member
of the Delvers Book Club.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs.
Louis Gerteis, 536 N Dellrose.
Funeral arrangements will be
announced by Downing Mortuary.
