SOUTH PITTSBURG, TN — Henry Edward Banks, 73, surrendered his earthly life Monday, September 7, 2009.

He was born in Clover, VA, to the late William J. Banks and Nannie Mosson Banks. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Robinson.

He received his education in Halifax County, VA, and also attended Virginia State University. In 1960, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge after two years of serving his country. He was employed as a laborer by Tennessee Valley Authority and retired after over 20 years of service.

Henry spread his love for music and praising God in many areas including Clover, VA, South Pittsburg, TN and Jackson County, AL.

On August 9, 1975, he joined in holy matrimony with Charlsie Burmadene Hyatt Banks. Together they lovingly raised four children together, Cassius Lamont Banks, of Lakewood, CA, Millicent Henrietta Banks, of Ashburn, VA, Vincent Edward (Candace) Banks, of Waynesboro, VA, and Marcus Terrell Banks, of South Pittsburg, TN. Other survivors that he loved dearly include six grandchildren, Katrina Joy Clave, Cassius Justus Banks, Kianna Flora Banks, Vincent Edison Banks, Olivia Desirae Banks and Christian Alister Banks; one sister, Regina (William) Robinson; three brothers, William (Charlie Mae) Banks, Robert Banks and John (Deloris) Banks; brother-in-law, William (Elsie) Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Henry will be missed but forever loved and remembered.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. CDT on Monday, September 14, 2009, in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will gather with friends for visitation on Monday from 10 a.m. CDT until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
