World War I Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the British South African Police, Rhodesia Native Infantry. At Songea, German East Africa, on February 12, 1917, his regiment was ambushed by a hidden German position. Under very heavy rifle fire, Sergeant Booth went forward alone and brought in a wounded man. Later he rallied native troops who were badly disorganized and brought them to the firing line. For most conspicuous bravery, he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal by King George V at Buckingham Palace in January 1918. He later achived the rank of Captain.
