Ann and the children removed to Kansas with her Simms relatives around 1872. In the late 1870s, she became ill, and her sister Lydia Maria joined her in Kansas to help care for the children. When Ann died, Lydia Maria cared for the children and took them with her to Nebraska in 1882.
