The Bolivar Commercial, Monday, Aug 11, 2008: Bessie Little Coleman, 97, of Charleston died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Indywood Estate in Cleveland.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Charleston, with the Rev. Sid Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Charleston Cemetery under the direction of Newsom Funeral Home.
She was born on April 22, 1911, in Tippo to Hampton Dave Little and Maudi Kerr Little. Before relocating to Cleveland in November of 1999, she had spent her entire life in Tallahatchie County where she served as a nurse for over 45 years. In May 2003, she moved into Indywood Estate, where she remained until her death.
She is preceded in death by her husband Freeman Coleman, son Earl Coleman, her father, her mother and 16 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by son Edward Coleman of Cleveland and his wife Kay of Cleveland; five grandchildren Desira Coleman Warrington of Cleveland, Jenifer Coleman Madden of Kansas City, Kan., Rena Coleman Lane and her husband David of Atlanta, and David Coleman and Macari Coleman of Houston; four great-grandchildren Coleman Warrington of Cleveland and William, Joseph and Lilly Madden of Kansas City, Kan.
