Johanna Verwolf Colver of Bozeman died Thursday, August 15, in the Gallatin County Rest Home of natural causes. She was 79.

She was born February 20, 1912, in Manhattan to Leonard and Emma (Hammersma) Verwolf. She grew up and received her schooling in Manhattan and worked on the family farm during her youth.

She married Robert Thompson Colver on December 23, 1930, in Bozeman. The couple lived in Oregon for a short period of time and moved back to the Gallatin Valley in 1942 and farmed in the Manhattan area. In 1952 they moved to Billings where they were also involved in farming. Back to Bozeman in 1960, and they remained here until 1982 when she moved to Butte following the death of her husband. She moved to the Gallatin County Rest Home in July of this year.

Jo loved to do needlecraft, ceramics, knitting and also loved to fish and hunt. She was active in the Bozeman Senior Center while her husband was living.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Fenter of Butte; and Arlene Colver of Phoenix, Arizona; two sons, Richard of Billings; and Robert of Fort Scott, Kansas; two brothers, Barney Verwolf of Washington; eight sisters, Mrs. Ed (Dixie) Heath of Spokane, Washington; Mrs. Judy Raser of Stevensville; Mrs. Cecil (Bertha) Metcalf of Manhattan; Mrs. Margaret Campbell of Manhattan; Mrs. Del (Helen) Holderby of Moxie, Washington; Mrs. June Coleman of Townsend; Mrs. Art (Frankie) Funk of Missoula and Mrs. John (Betty Jean) Julian of Manhattan; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Wick of Billings; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1982 and by one brother, Guy in 1927.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 20 in the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park.
