Services for Gerald "Jerry" Gardner, 70, Flint, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Ola Church of Christ in Ola, with Sherman Gardner officiating.

Burial will follow in Morrow Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Gardner passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

Gerald was born Feb. 10, 1941, in Kaufman to Wilson and Olga Sherbit Gardner. Gerald loved working on cars, carpentry, growing roses and trees and researching genealogy. Gerald retired from the United States Air Force in 1980 after serving for 20 years and was very proud of his country. He was always willing to lend a hand to a person in need.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Johnson, Peggy Hutchison, Wilford Gardner, Billy Gardner, Ann Gardner, Dan Gardner and Jimmy Gardner.

Gerald is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 49 years, Yvonne "Eve" Gardner; sons, Sherman and wife Darla of The Colony, Craig Gardner of Bullard, and Darren and wife LaNita of Carrollton; grandchildren, Alissa, Ryan, Daniel, Hayden, Brandon and Sarah Gardner; brother, Roy Gene Gardner and wife Betty Ruth; sister-in-law, Delia Anderson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Darren Gardner, Craig Gardner, Ryan Gardner, Brandon Gardner, Rodney Gardner and Randall Gardner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Gardner, Hayden Gardner and Thomas Anderson.
