Professional Race Car Driver. Buck Baker was a stock car driver who began his racing career in 1939. After NASCAR was organized, he continued his racing career for another 26 years until his retirement in 1976. While racing in NASCAR, he entered 637 races and placing first in 46 of them. He won back to back NASCAR Grand National Championships (now Sprint Cup series) in 1956 and 1957. After he retired, he opened and operated the Buck Baker Racing School. He was inducted into the Motorsports Press Association's Hall of Fame in 1982 and the International Motorsport's Hall of Fame in 1990. In February 2013 Buck was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Buck's son Buddy Baker followed in his father's footsteps in stock car racing becoming an accomplished and popular driver in his own right.
