Adele Raley Chronister, 90, of Slidell, went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of the late Arch L. Chronister; mother of Sandra Chronister Montalbano, Gretchen Chronister Austin and the late Archie Chronister Jr. and Richard F. Chronister; daughter of the late Benjamin and Esther Raley; and sister of Dorothy Rendon, Betty Seymour and the late Ben Raley, Donald Raley, Elliot Raley, Mildred Leonardi, Shannon Gibson and Bernard Raley. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A native of Biloxi Miss, Chronister was raised in Biloxi and lived in California, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas and Arkansas before settling in New Orleans in 1956. She resided in Slidell since the mid 1970s. She retired as a nurse from Slidell Memorial Hospital. The funeral Mass was held Wednesday at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
