"Fred Dykes, age 67, of Somerset, passed from this life on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Fred was born on February 18, 1949, in Somerset, KY to the late Venice and Alene Hyden Dykes. He was a member of the Lake Cumberland Corvette Club and enjoyed Somernights cruise. He is retired truck driver for Somerset Foods. Fred was a Christian and enjoyed talking with his family and friends.
Fred is survived by his wife, Linda Ritchie Dykes; sons, Ben (and Sandy) Dykes, of Somerset, Johnny Dykes, of Science Hill; brother, Doug (and Rosie) Dykes, of Shopville; sisters, Darlene Dykes, of Shopville, Louise (and Marvin) Bullock, of Science Hill, Debbie Dykes, of Monticello; a granddaughter, Brittany (and Travis) Anderson; three great grandchildren, Chloe Nicholas, Connor Anderson, Collin Anderson and a special friend and dog “Rainy”.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Connie Bray.
Visitation will be Monday, January 23, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Goodwater Cemetery.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
