Funeral services for James A. "Jimmy" Ashley Jr., of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, at Riverwood Family Funeral Services Chapel, with burial in Mission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ashley, 64, died Aug. 3, 2011, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Mississippi on April 19, 1947, to James A. and Hazel Earline Britt Ashley.

He was a dairyman for 28 years and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church.

He was ordained to the ministry at 18 and was currently active in pursuing a bachelor's in Theological Studies at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a son, William Lee Ashley.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara Bullock Ashley; his son, James Stephen Ashley; his brother, Larry Gene Ashley; his mother-in-law, Ernestine Bullock Holmes; his sisters-in-law, Rhonda B. Ashley and Karen Ward; a nephew, Jarrad Ashley; nieces, Harmoni Ashley and Melody Ashley; great-niece, Zoey Ashley; aunts and uncles, Bobby and Frances Britt, Malford and Louise Byrd, Donald, Elsie and Judy Ashley; and grandchildren, Alexis Adrianna Ashley and Mason Aubrey Ashley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an account at Trustmark National Bank for use in aiding individuals in Christian studies.
