He was married Aug. 10, 1961, to the former Signora Joyce Miller, and she preceded him in death.
Robert was a U.S. Army peacetime veteran. He retired from Franklin Steel in 1976 after working there as a forklift operator for more than 15 years.
Robert enjoyed golf, and his favorite place to golf was Whitetail Golf Course, which he played every day when possible. He also enjoyed woodworking and he built many bird houses.
Robert is survived by his son, Robert L. Ace Jr. of Franklin; his daughter, Roberta J. Hovis and her husband, Lanny, of Franklin; and his grandchildren, Julie DeAnne Shelter and James Allen Hovis of Franklin.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ace Jr.; an infant sister; and his daughter, Lisa Gay Ace.
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mindy Graham, pastor of Uniontown Heights Sunday School, officiating.
