John "Jack" N. Baader, of Allen's Point, Union Springs, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home. Mr. Baader was born in Naples, N.Y., the son of the late Jacob R. and Jessie Polmantier Baader, and resided in Union Springs since 1963. Mr. Baader was a graduate of Naples Central School, Class of 1941, received his bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Northwestern University, and was awarded his master's degree in education from Alfred University. He taught mathematics and coached basketball at the Belfast Central School District and joined the faculty as a guidance counselor at Union Springs Central School in 1964. The following year he became director of curriculum for the school and went on to serve as superintendent of schools from 1966 to 1979. Following his retirement, he formed a small cabinet making company where he designed and manufactured custom furniture and other custom wood products. In addition, he was an accomplished pilot. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church, Union Springs. Surviving is his wife, Marilyn Gray Baader, of Union Springs; three nieces, Colleen Penlon, of Florida, Deborah Sczpanski, of Rochester, and Dawn Meyers and her husband, Neill, of Rochester; two predeceased brothers, Richard Baader and William Baader; and one nephew, Richard Baader Jr.
