Albert John Bukovic, 81, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Sheboygan, WI, died at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006 at his residence.

Albert was born June 2, 1924 in Sheboygan, WI, the son of John and Anna Barbuch Bukovic. He married Rita Grotelueschen on October 18, 1952 in Sheboygan.

Mr. Bukovic was a graduate of North High School in Sheboygan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a gunnery officer on liberty ships in the Pacific during WWII. Albert was a former pipefitter, he belonged to the United Association of Pipefitters. He worked for the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis as Director of Plant Services and Construction, retiring in 1991 after thirty-seven years of service. Albert was a devoted member of the Church of the Little Flower for over forty years. He never once missed a first Friday. He was also a member of the Sheboygan Yacht Club and the Springfield YMCA. The biggest source of joy in his life was his family. Albert enjoyed woodworking, especially building wooden ships. Hunting and fishing trips with his friends were also favorite pastimes.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife: Rita M. Bukovic of Springfield; four sons: John Bukovic of Riverton, Robert (wife, Janet) Bukovic of Orlando, FL, Michael (wife, Lynne) Bukovic of Eureka, MO and Paul (wife, Nancy) Bukovic of St. Louis, MO; one daughter: Mary Jo Bukovic of Tacoma, WA; and three grandchildren: Steven Bukovic of Afton, MO, and Robby and Kelly Bukovic both of Orlando, FL.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield with Rev. Steven Janoski celebrant. Burial will be at Greendale Cemetery in Sheboygan, WI.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Hospital, Hospice Program, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702 or to Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield, IL 62703.
