Henry S. BENNETT

Funeral services for Henry S. BENNETT were held July 31 in the Holdenville Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Patrick SMITH officiating and Rev. Todd WHITE assisting.

He was born March 4, 1914 in the Bilby community, near Holdenville, to Henry Frank and Lula Etta (HILL) BENNETT and died July 29 in the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 88.

Mr. BENNETT was raised in Holdenville and lived in the community all of his life, except for a brief move to Lancaster, Ca. in the late 1940's. He farmed during his early life and later became a skilled plaster and stucco mason. He worked in many parts of the United States during his career.

He married Lula Virgie PENDLEY on June 8, 1941 in Wewoka. She preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 1987.

Mr. BENNETT had a love for music and especially enjoyed playing songs from the 1920's and 1930's on his fiddle.

He was baptized in the Penn West Baptist Church of Holdenville in the mid 1970's.

Mr. BENNETT was also preceded in death by one son, Ricky Don BENNETT; one grand-daughter, Julie Denise GILLEAN, Two brothers, Frank A. BENNETT (Jr.) and Jack D. BENNETT; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Maudie and Bud GILES and Thelma and Rintles GORDON; and two brothers-in-law, Bob MINER and T. W. WHITE Jr.

Survivors included two sons, Tommy BENNETT and Phil and wife, Diane BENNETT all of Holdenville; two daughters, Kaye Lynn GILLEAN of Holdenville and Cathy and Don AGUIRRE of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Rebecca and Danny SIPES and Stephanie BENNETT, all of Holdenville, Greg GILLEAN of Atwood, Ami and Glenn LOGAN and Heather and Richard MORGAN-CAMPBELL, all of Albuquerque, N.M., and Steven BENNETT of Norman; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry and Marie BENNETT of Tulsa and Bob and Sally BENNETT of Ada; three sisters, Gladys and Melvin SWINHART of Holdenville, Willa Mae MINER of Mulberry, Ar. and Berry WHITE of Jenks; and several nieces and nephews.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Interment was in the Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
