John Robert Quein, 78, of 4519 Baldwin, Lincoln, former district and Gage county clerk at Beatrice, died Friday at the Veterans hospital in Lincoln.
A native of Zanesville, Ohio, he came to Beatrice in his youth and married in 1901 in Lincoln. The Queins moved to western Nebraska in 1918, to Beatrice in 1936, and to Lincoln in 1941.
He was a member of the Beatrice Masonic lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, William Lewis post of the United Spanish American War Veterans of Lincoln, and First Methodist Church of Lincoln.
His wife, Mattie Brooks Quein, survives.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hodgman-Splain mortuary, with Dr. L. H. Rising and Chaplain T. R. Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen cemetery here in Beatrice. The Masonic lodge will conduct graveside services.
The Quein family were residents in Beatrice for many years."
