Chester Adkins
Chester Adkins, 79, of Greasy Creek Road, Shelbiana, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Pike County, July 22, 1928, a son of the late Dorse and Georgia Thacker Adkins.
He was a retired school teacher, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Greasy Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one infant brother, Robert Adkins; and one sister, Edythe Mae Coleman.
He is survived by his wife, Maxie Prater Adkins; two sons, Michael Adkins of Greasy Creek and Cecil Ray Adkins of Whitesburg; three sisters, Glema Charles and Myra Charles, both of Dry Fork, Shelbiana, Magalene Hockett of Lexington; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one stepgrandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Curtis Carrell and Greasy Creek Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road
