Willie Olander Jones was born 14 May 1900 in Mason County, Texas in the Katemcy area. He was the eldest child of Floyd Meek Jones and Lula Narcissus Hill Jones. He was the grandson of Joseph Wilson Jones and Sabrina Angelina Burns Jones, as well as Sam Hill and Eliza Rector Babb Hill.

With his parents and siblings, Willie resided in Mason, Runnels, and Tom Green Counties in Texas, as well as Lea County, New Mexico and Caddo County, Oklahoma.

By 1918, the Jones family moved back to Ballinger, Runnels County, Texas having lived there previously in 1913.

On 29 November 1925, Willie and Lee Audrey Brown were married in Ballinger, where they resided until his death in 1933, except for 1931 when they were homesteading in Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico.

After a long illness, Willie passed away on 25 October 1933 of complications from a brain abscess caused by otitis media.

Willie and Lee Audrey were the parents of Robert Harold (Bob) and Willie Lou. After Willie's death, Lee Audrey and the children moved to Louisiana to live with her parents.

In 1960, Willie and Lee Audrey's son, Bob, designed, made and set Willie's monument marker. It was a labor of love. Bob's family was there, as well as his mother, Lee Audrey, to witness the setting of the stone.
