Mr. Wm. Beaty was born in Tennessee, 1843, died in Winfield, Kansas, May 31, 1915, being 72 years of age at the time of death.
In early childhood his parents moved to Virginia, where he was raised.
Thirty-one years ago he moved to Kansas living for a time in Cowley County then moving to Kay County, Oklahoma for a time and removed to Winfield, Kansas, later.
He married Miss Henrietta Fulkerson, a child hood friend in Virginia. He was the father of four boys, two of whom survive, Jim Beaty and Marian Beaty.
Mr. Beaty was a confederate soldier and fought for his country, but now has gone home to his reward.
As a husband and father he was unsurpassed. The widow survives him and has the sympathy of this entire community. Everyone who knew him was his friend.
Mr. Beaty was a man among men. The first flower of spring was brought as a token of love to his wife and in every word, act or deed the happiness of those around him was considered before self.
For a good many years his health has been very poor but he bore his sufferings patiently to the end.
Funeral services were held at the home, 1719 Millington street, Wednesday at 10 o'clock. Rev W.B. Lampe of the First Presbyterian church was in charge. Mr. Beaty was a member of this church. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Miss Helen Dunbar, Miss Bernice Bush, Mr. E.B. Gordon and Mr. Leonard Weinrich.
Mrs. Beaty is at the home of a dear friend, Mrs. N. M. Moran, 321 West Tenth avenue where her friends can visit her.
