The following taken from the Korean War records on file at the National Archives

Warrant Officer, First Class Algaard was living in Fosston, MN when he entered the service and was a member of the 138th Army Security Agency (ASA) Company, 224th ASA Battalion, U.S. Army Security Group. Married to Judith Schumacher on 28 December 1969 in Polk County, Minnesota.

On March 4, 1971, he was the co-pilot of a Beech Ute Test Aircraft (JU-21A) on a combat mission over the Demilitarized Zone over North Vietnam when contact was lost.

His remains were never recovered.

His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
