We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our father, James Vincent Barile on August 9, 2013. James was born on March 16, 1928, in Boston, Massachusetts to Thomas and Maria Barile, immigrants from Italy. His family moved to Fresno in 1943. He served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1953 and was released with Honorable Discharge. After serving in the military, he attended and graduated from California State University, Fresno with his teaching credentials. He taught for Fresno Unified School District for 35 years. He met the love of his life, Joyce Lou Mason, and was married in 1957. They celebrated over 50 years together. He owned several businesses throughout the years including the Fresno Farmers Market. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Barile; his father and mother, Thomas and Maria Barile; his brothers, Paul, Joseph and Charles Barile; and sister, Frances Russell. Survivors include his daughter, Gina Sanchez and her husband John; his daughter, Patricia Scrivner and her husband Dan; his son, Richard Barile; and five grandchildren, Anastasia and Sonia Sanchez and Austin, Jordan and Dalton Scrivner. He is also survived by brothers, John and Dominic Barile; sister, Theresa Spreafico; and many nieces and nephews.
