CHASE, DOUGLAS LAVERNE Douglas L. Chase stepped into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2014 surrounded by loving family. Doug is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Kathey (Tom) Youker, Kevin (Janie) Chase, Jim (Kathi) Chase; grandchildren, Joel (Sarah) Chase, Bradley Chase, Bryan (Jenn) Chase, Lucas Chase, Christian Chase, Daniel Youker and great-granddaughter, Savannah Chase; sister, Delores (Paul) Meador, the extended family and his faithful canine friend, Dusty. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Shirley Chase. Doug was born in Jackson on September 8, 1931 to Gilbert and Gladys (Stimer) Chase and graduated from Jackson High School where he was a stand-out basketball player. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and worked 35 years at Consumers Power Company, retiring in 1986. Doug was a strong man of good character who loved his family above all and showed that love by providing the most wonderful food at his many get-togethers. He was an avid fan of all his grandsons in their sports lives and beyond. Camping, fishing and the great outdoors were among many of his passions. He is greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11 AM, with Pastor Jerry Bailey officiating, visitation beginning at 10.
