Charles was born in McHenry County, north of Granville, ND, a son of Charles and Josephine Allison. He was raised there and at Forest Lake, MN, where he moved to in the mid-thirties. He married Alverna Mae Johnson at Forest Lake. Hey lived in Forest Lake. During World War II, he served in the Navy, from 1944 until 1946. Following his discharge, he returned to Forest Lake and went into construction work. His wife died in 1947. He later was married for 15 years to the former Beverly Yost. In the 1960's he moved to Empire, Colorado, where he owned and operated a motel and restaurant complex. He also continued in construction work at Empire. In 1984, he returned to Granville. His final resting place is in the Scandinavian Cemetery, Forest Lake, Minnesota.
