Arthur Putnam Curtis was the son of John Edwin and Jane Mellen (Putnam) Curtis, also buried at Rocklawn Cemetery. Arthur was the brother of Charles Willis Curtis, who is buried at Maplewood Cemetery, Marlborough, Mass. Arthur was also in the family shoe business and he lived on the corner of Warren Avenue and Church Street in a distinctive Victorian style house.

On 28 November 1887, in Westborough, Worcester County, Mass., Arthur married Emma Frances Searles, daughter of Uriah and Mary Searles born in Massachusetts and New York, respectively. Arthur and Emma had a daughter, Marjory Searles Curtis, and a son, Morgan Putnam Curtis. A second daughter, Katherine, did not survive.

Marjory S. Curtis married Warren J. Simonds on 23 October 1912 and they had three daughters, Phyllis, Katherine Curtis and Ann Simonds and a son, James Curtis Simonds. On 19 May 1945, Ann Simonds married Alfred Norrington Oakes and a photograph of their wedding day is shown with this memorial for her grandfather. The Oakes couple had two children, Susan C. and Robert N. Oakes. Ann's siblings also married and had children.
