Calvin W. Anderson, 77, of Belvidere, Ill. died Friday August 11, 2006 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center.

He was born in Marengo, Illinois on May 23, 1929, to the parents of Charles Huber and Eva Mae (Rossman) Anderson. Calvin met Grace E. Knutson at Camp Epworth where they were neighbors. The were married in Belvidere on May 12, 1951. His lifetime career included being a mechanic for Atwood Nash; a former partner of the Sinclair Gas Station in Cherry Valley, Ill.; an auto machinist for Belvidere Auto Parts and a Shop Foreman for Cassens Transport Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1991. He later worked parttime for the Tru Value Hardware for 5 years. Calvin was a veteran of the Korean War. He joined the Army a few days after he married. He was a member of First United Methodist Church; a longtime member of the Looney Club; He used to enjoy spending time working on cars and fishing. Calvin and Grace enjoyed spending their summers at Jellystone Park in Fort Atkinson. Wis. Calvin graduated from Marengo High School.

He is survived by five children, Debra (Dave) Norris of Sycamore, Ill.; Steven (Diana) Anderson, Belvidere; Charles (Deb) Anderson, Rockford; Robert (Laura) Anderson, Belvidere; Michael (Theresa) Anderson, Belvidere; fourteen grandchildren, Matthew, Joe, Melissa, Danielle, Riley, Molly, Tara (Allan); Kyle, Kolin, Adam, Allison, Elizabeth, Gabriel, Andrew; two great-granddaughters, GraceAnne; Rhyia; and a brother, Roger (Betty) Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Charles Huber Anderson, Jr. and Hiram Richard Anderson.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home 218 W. Hurlbut Av. with the Rev. Dale Anderson, pastor of Belvidere First Assembly of God. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
