Greenville (Texas) Morning Herald, Sat, 24 Nov 1934, page 1, S.R. Ard Dies Clinton, PROMINENT RESIDENT OF CLINTON COMMUNITY DIES FRIDAY

Samuel Rush Ard, 71, died at his home one mile north of Clinton at 5:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the Clinton Methodist Church at 2 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. Ray Williams, of Caddo Mills, assisted by Rev. Hightower. Burial will be in the Concord cemetery at Jacobia.

Mr. Ard was born on May 14, 1863. He united with the Methodist Church at the age of 30 and lived a devout Christian life.

He is survived by his wife, and the following children: Mrs. Boyd Warrent (sic), Charlie Ard, Sam Ard, Mrs. Robert Askins, Mrs. Darvin Stephenson, Mrs. Walter Coleman, all of Clinton; Mrs. Clyde Taylor of Greenville. Fifteen grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Will Lamm, of Kincer, also survive.
