Margaret J. Anderson, 85, Rt. 2, Chanute, Kansas, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1993, at the home of her daughter in Crane, Missouri, where she has resided since becoming ill about one year ago.

She was born March 28, 1907, at Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Kirby and Josephine (Negley) Shotts.

She was the youngest in a family of six children. As a small child, following the death of her mother, she was adopted by August and Mary Anderson. She lived in the same home for 64 years.

She was Married to Herman R. Anderson on Feb. 1, 1928, at Vilas, Kansas. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1992.

She was a homemaker and was also employed as a nurse's aid at Neosho Memorial Regional Hospital, and the TB Hospital, both in Chanute.

She was a member of the Vilas Bethel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Tunks, of Crane, MO; two sons, Vernon Anderson of Chanute, KS; and Robert Anderson, of Lincoln, NE; a foster brother, Elmer Anderson, of Safford, AZ; a foster sister, Jewell; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbund; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral will be Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1993, at Vilas Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Warren M. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Vilas Cemetery under the direction of Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the Southwest Missouri Hospice and may be left at the chapel.
