Laura Mae is one of ten children born to David and Lula (Henson) Buttery. On September 14, 1944 she married Jess Burgess and together they had two children. Jack W. (husband of Vickie) and Judy Lynn (wife of Don).

Laura Mae's Brothers are George William and
Cecil. Her Sisters are; Betty Jo Richardson, Inez Burgess, Edna Mills, Sylvia McDonald,
Jane Mullins, Catherine Turner, and Viola Scalf.

She has three Grandsons; Ryan, Micah, and Travis. One Great-Granddaughter Loren Elizabeth.
