Linnie Caroline Burkhart was one of a total of thirteen children born to Coriolanus Domarus "Crill" Burkhart (1821-1881) and Caroline Lavinia [Goff] Burkhart (1835-1892). Her parents came to Albany, Linn County, Oregon in October, 1847, with her father's parents and siblings. All of the children were raised on their parents' donation land claim near Harrisburg in Linn County, Oregon. Sadly, both Linnie and two of her brothers died before they reached their 1st or 2nd birthdays. I have no idea what took little Linnie's life when she was just one year, four months and 27 days of age. She is buried with most of her siblings and her parents at Riverside Cemetery in Albany, Linn County, Oregon at plot 11n where there is a monolith, listing her parents and the nine children who are buried on either side of the monolith with tiny headstones listing each of their names. Her four siblings who married are buried with their spouses in other areas of Riverside Cemetery except for her older brother, named after their father and nicknamed Crill, who is buried with his wife, Lola Amelia [Froman] Burkhart; they are buried at the Masonic Cemetery in Albany, Linn County, Oregon with his wife's family, the Fromans, who also helped settle Albany, Oregon. That must have been so very difficult to loose so many of their family members all too soon in their lives. May they all rest peacefully in Paradise.
A special note of Thanks goes to Kimberly Herman and Bill Kaupan, Find A Grave members, who went to the burial plot of my great, great grandfather's older brother, taking photos of all who are buried at plot 11n. Their pictures finally explained where all of these family members were laid to rest.
