Jack Donovan Beatty, 63, of the Rainbow Trailer Court, died early Monday morning, April 20, 1987, at Livingston Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
He was born April 20, 1924, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the son of Leroy and Beulah Beatty. In the late 1920's he moved with his family to Yellowstone national Park and to Livingston in the mid 1930's.
He graduated from Park County High School in the late 1940's and from the Sherwood Conservatory of Music in Chicago shortly after that.
During World War II, he served in the Army in both the South Pacific and Europe. Following his discharge in 1945, he lived for a short time in Japan before moving to California where he worked in several management positions.
Mr. Beatty moved to Livingston in 1984 and had worked for TW Services in Yellowstone National Park before ill health forced his retirement.
Mr. Beatty was known locally for his large Christmas decoration collection which he shared freely with the community each year. He was also an amateur artist, author and musician, especially enjoying classical piano. He was a member of alcoholics anonymous and the American Legion.
He is survived by a sister, Villis Lou Powell, Bozeman, and five nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Franzen-Davis-Bebee Chapel with the Reverend Derek Crawford of the Unity Truth Center officiating.
Memorials may be directed either to the Livingston Alcoholics Anonymous or to the Park County Cancer Society.
