After the death of his father, Johann Wienholt, in 1891, Herman returned to Germany with his mother. In 1899 he came to Baltimore, Maryland to study dentistry at Maryland University. After his graduation in 1902 he practiced dentistry in Hamburg, Germany; Amsterdam, Holland; Rotterdam, Holland and in Austria. He returned to the U.S. on 1 Apr 1910. Herman and Thekla had no children.
