AMERICUS - Mrs. Ruby R. Bailey, 96, died early Sunday morning, June 29, 2003, at Perfect Care in Americus. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, at Oak Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Brooks Partain will officiate.
Mrs. Bailey, a native of Sumter County, was born Dec. 4, 1906, a daughter of the late William Madison Ratley and Ruby Cook Ratley. She was the wife of the late Eugene Ansley Bailey, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1970. She and her late husband owned and operated the W.D. Balley and Co. men's clothing store for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Americus.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Hancock Funeral Home.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Carroll Lee and Faye Bass of Leesburg; grandchildren, Emory Bass of Hollywood, Fla., Arthur and Ellen Bass of Kingstree, S.C., Glen and Pam Bass of Orlando, Fla., Pam and Ken Spivey and Gayle Webb, all of Leesburg; great-grandchildren, Lauren Webb, Brittany Webb and Marlee Phillips, all of Leesburg, and Kevin Bass of Atlanta; two other sisters-in-law, Ann (Mrs. Evan C.) Bass of Hollywood, Fla., and Dot (Mrs. Arthur) Bass of North Charleston, S.C.; a nephew and his wife, James and Shirley Young of Atlanta; and a niece and her husband, Barbara and Marshall Parks of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by two sons, Evan C. Bass and Arthur Bass and a great-grandson, Scott Bass.
