Two aged members of a prominent family of early settlers in the Garfield community, died within four days after having been united for nearly sixty years. The death of Mrs. Sarah C. Dye on July 12th was followed by the passing of her husband, W.W. Dye on July 16th. Their death was a shock to the entire Garfield community, in which they had been identified for over half a century.
MRS. SARAH C. DYE
Mrs. Sarah C. Dye died at the family home July 12, following a brief illness. She was 79 years of age. The greater part of her life had been spent in the section where she died. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Clark Bland of Glade. Burial was made in the Rogers cemetery.
She is survived by six sons, Shade, James and William of Garfield community; Thomas and John of Tekamah, Okla., Joe of Bixby, Okla., also by four daughters, Mrs. Minnie Crisman of Rogers, Mrs. Ruth Marshall and Mrs. Olive Tomlinson of Tekamah, Okla., Mrs. Meda Georgeson, Craig, Nebr. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
