Laurine Hiniker Leibold, April 8, 1908 - February 28, 1999. Born in Mankato, MN to Joseph Peter Hiniker and Barbara Wagner Hiniker, she was one of six boys and six girls. Laurine graduated from North High School in Minneapolis, then, in 1936, finished her training at St. Mary's Hospital. She became a Registered Nurse, a licensure she always maintained. She married Edwin F. Leibold in June of 1940 in Mankato, MN and they made their home in Milwaukee until he finished his medical training in 1942.

Laurine was Public Health Nurse in Forks in 1944. In 1947 she started the Forks Hospital Annex as a birthing center before the Forks Community Hospital was built. She continued her work as a nurse through her years in Forks then in Clallam Bay, from 1947 to 1970. In 1986 the Leibolds relocated in Sequim for retirement, and also maintained a winter home in Thousand Palms, Riverside county, CA. where she died at age 90.

Gardening and flowers were great loves of hers, and she spent thousands of hours in a never-ending effort to beautify the earth. She was very tolerant of her family's many pets and projects and had a gentle way about her that animals and children seemed to sense. Laurine loved her family most of all and reared five children: Edwin J., born 1941, Patricia & Michael, 1943, Laurita, 1948, and John 1955. She leaves them and her loving husband, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
