Permission granted for free non-commercial use and distribution, conditioned upon inclusion of the citation and this notice with image/text.

I am adding this photo to the memorial even though there has already been a good one added by Terence Whalen because I think the two photos combined allow a better view of the engraving upon the stone, which is worn.

The following note is from email correspondence with Mrs. Waller, who took the 1992 photo.
Note (13 Oct 2012 Jere McCormick Becker):
After Mrs. Waller sent me the picture, I asked her "The date on Alexander's looks like it says '1817' which can't be right; do you have any light to shed on that?"
She replied (in part):
"As for the date on Alexander's stone, . . . at the time we visited there in the Fall of 1992 it was clear enough to be read that I did not log any question about the dates . . .Note . . . the slant stroke of the figure four almost touching the figure eight. The bottom, horizontal stroke returning to the upright was worn quite smooth and did not take the chalk."
