Alexander “Alex” P. Frelich, 71 a long time rural Crary, ND farmer died on Saturday evening, October 15, 2005 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial for Alex will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C. F. Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Crary. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Visitation at the church will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. led by the Knights of Columbus and the Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Serving as Casket Bearers for Alex will be Scott Hammond, Robert Haman, James Haman, Daniel Miller, Ren McKelvey, Travis Beck and Chad Everson. Altar Servers for the Mass will be Breanna Frelich, Rachel Frelich, Seth McKelvey, Jacob Haman and Christopher Miller. Reading the Scriptures will be Andrea Miller and Teresa Haman Gift Bearers will be Alexis Hammond, Heidi McKelvey, Sarah Miller and Matthew Jackson.
Alexander Paul Frelich was born on August 27, 1934 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake the son of Joseph and Regina (Leiphon) Frelich. He attended several country schools in Ramsey County. Alex was united in marriage to Mary Wentz on November 27, 1956 at Little Flower Catholic Church at Rugby, ND. They established their home on Alex’s farm northeast of Devils Lake where he farmed his entire life. He also drove the Crary School Bus for 18 years. Alex was a life long member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and also served as a Trustee for many years. He was the sexton of St. Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery and served on the Noonan Township Board and the Devils Lake Community Credit Union Board. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Alex had such a passion for flying and had his own ultra light airplane. Alex’s true love was his family and the land. Alex is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Children: Paulette Haman and husband, Terry of Crary Cindy Miller and husband, Randy of Cavalier, ND Jeanne Hammond and husband, Roger of Devils Lake Carla McKelvey and husband, Cory also Devils Lake Steven Frelich and wife, Sue of Madelia, Minnesota Kathleen Jackson and husband, Stanley of Colorado Springs, Colorado Michael Frelich and wife, Kathy of Devils Lake Twenty-Seven Grandchildren Sisters: Margaret Helten and husband, Harold Eileen Durbin and husband, Mike all of Devils Lake Brothers: Peter Frelich and wife, Sandy of Chester, California John Frelich and wife, Linda of Crary Many Nieces and Nephews also survive Alex was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Andrew and Daniel Frelich and nine grandchildren as infants.
