Etta's father served with the Illinois Calvalry in the Civil War. He proudly answered President Lincoln's call for men to fight to preserve our nations union and abolish slavery. The soldiers of the 4th Illinois Calvalry fought in strategic battles such as the bloody Battle of Shiloh.
He returned home to Green Valley Illinois after the War where he married Louvisa Tuttle. They were the parents of 5 daughters.
Etta's mother died at 30 years of age. Etta grew up in a beautiful farming community in Central Illinois.
Etta died after a farming accident, she lost a baby boy she was carrying, and passed away as a result of the tragic event.
Etta Estes Holt Latham is loved and remembered by her family.
